Bilingual project

Children at an early age have more ability to develop basic communication skills such as comprehension and oral production. When we educate our students, we want to enable them to integrate into the globalized world in which we live. For this reason, we must provide them the knowledge of one or more foreign languages​​. The chance of communication in a foreign language becomes a necessity in today’s daily life. Moreover, there are several advantages of learning English at an early age: the development of creativity, self-esteem and confidence to face the world, among others. 

Almirante Topete School has got a bilingual project in English and that is why our students learn contents of different subjects and English as a foreign language at the same time. We use the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and the Total Physical Response (TPR) as the main methodology in the teaching and learning process. In our Infant and Primary School, Natural Sciences and Arts are learnt in English for the Primary students. In Infant Education they have got more sessions in English. 

Los niños a edades tempranas tienen más habilidades para desarrollar unas destrezas básicas de comunicación relacionadas con la comprensión y expresión oral. Cuando educamos a nuestros alumnos, el objetivo es permitirles la integración en el mundo globalizado en el que vivimos. Por esta razón, debemos proporcionarles el conocimiento de una o más lenguas extranjeras. La oportunidad para comunicarse en una lengua extranjera se convierte en una necesidad en la vida diaria actual. Además, hay numerosas ventajas en el aprendizaje de la lengua inglesa desde edades tempranas, tales como: el desarrollo de la creatividad o el aumento de la autoestima y confianza para enfrentarse al mundo, entre otras.

Almirante Topete tiene un proyecto bilingüe en lengua inglesa. Como consecuencia, nuestros alumnos aprenden contenidos de diferentes áreas e Inglés como lengua extranjera al mismo tiempo. Se utiliza el Aprendizaje Integrado de Contenidos y Lengua Extranjera (AICLE), así como el Total Physical Response (TPR) como principales metodologías en el proceso de enseñanza/aprendizaje de los alumnos. En nuestro Colegio de Educación Infantil y Primaria, los alumnos de Educación Primaria aprenden Ciencias Naturales (Science) y Educación Plástica (Arts) en inglés. En Educación Infantil tienen más sesiones en lengua inglesa.
